73 odd issue

Have a 73 gmc step van which is basically a 3/4 ton truck underneath. 8 lug axles. Did replace master and brake booster, front pads, wheel cylinders, and rear shoes. Start driving and smelled a burning smell. Took off rear drums and one wheel it seemed like the shoe was very thin on one side than other...new shoes just put on. Adjusted them 2x. Drover last night and came back after a 20 mile ride to both rear wheels very hot to the touch...the rims. Smelled of like the brakes were burning up. When I drive..it's almost like a lopsided wheel even while not pressing the brake. If I just let it roll in drive it's like an egg..rolls then like almost it i's either grabbing or something like drum or wheel is warped or lopsided. With this issue the truck runs like crap meaning like hesitation, backfire in carb...just like put put almost stall..pop ..goes.. meanwhile it is pretty good on highway. Around town it is horrible. Sure could use help as we have replaced a ton of brake items and seems worse than we staryed.
