Fresh start on a 4.3
If you had an extra 4.3 to put together for a driver (not a hot rod) anything you do different from stock?
Since the EFI set up is limited I have no expectations of big gains, would like a bit more passing power. Its in a Safari van so it has its work cut out for it. LOL Thought I would through it out there. I posted here thinking the 4.3 would get little love in the full size trucks. Otherwise I would have posted in the engine area. Experience?

Re: Fresh start on a 4.3
Yeah as I have been studying, finding all sorts of variations. The one in the van is a 96 However the spare is also a Vortec but I better figure out what exactly I have. It came from a Blazer IIRC. I'll get more info.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: Fresh start on a 4.3
Still checking numbers but from what I have so far looks pretty close to a 1996
(same year as my Safari) Vortec, balance shaft, roller motor.

Re: Fresh start on a 4.3
I'm intrested in what pops up here.
I'm surprised you got no suggestions. Only thing I can think of is a nice set of pistons.

Even on the Astro/Safari sites modding the 4.3 has little info. And that's the only engine. A few V8 swaps. Might have to research joining an S10 site?

Re: Fresh start on a 4.3
No casting where it should be. I wonder if its a warranty replacement block?
