What do I need to do to put a bbc in my truck?
I have a 68' LWB that I Cut down to a SWB, it is a complete frame off. I lowered the rear 6" and swapped in an 81' chevy 2wd front cradle. I have 2.5" lowering spindles and 2" drop springs.
I was going to install a SBC with the 81' mounts and clamshell motor mounts. I just picked up a 454 that i am going to install instead. Will it work with what I have or do I need to get some different stands?

Bbc stands are practically a must for any kind of exhaust clearance.
I used the 68-71 stands with sbc pads and a huge washer on the bolt. Plan out your exhaust and shifting assembles a head of time as these two cause the most problems with the swap if you don't have all the oe parts.

Also, using the factory stands will push the transmission back about 1-1/2''. There is a different transmission anchor that bolts to the frame for the big block if you have an automatic. and of course the x-member gets moved also, but those holes are already drilled in the rails.

Re: What do I need to do to put a bbc in my truck?
I agree, I'm getting tired of everyone beating the LS drum. I'm in the process of putting a semi-pumped up 454 in my flatbed. I kept getting the same thing from my friends...........man you should put a 6.0 in it, nope, I want the low down torque

Re: What do I need to do to put a bbc in my truck?
The motor is currently on the engine stand, I have the machine shop doing up some semi closed chamber heads right now with some bigger valves and port work. I still have to find the time to blow apart the th350 and get the goodies put in it and I will be able to start mock up.
I feel like I have squirrel syndrome and jump from bodywork to engine work to working on my new mud truck to oh something shiney to what was I doing again? I know the BBC engine stands are hard and spendy to come by. Are there any other options or work arounds?
