80's model gas tank in 71 c10

Is it possible to mount an 80's model gas tank on the left side under the bed into a 71 C10 long bed?

I don't know about the saddle tanks but I know that the tank out of the blazer will fit.

I don't think it will. The newer tank would extend under the cab, and due to the design of the floor, it would hang too low

I guess I'll have to leave it where it is. My truck is a bob-tail longbed. The tail end is shortened from the back to just behind the axle. I am 73 and usually get people to help me. If I could cut off the forward part of the 83 tank and have it shortened somehow to fit like the 80's tank.

Are you just looking to move the tank out of the cab? With the way your bed is cut your pretty limited on places to move it. The easiest solution would be a fuel cell in the bed cause your truck is cut off where the tank would mount.

It is too long to fit between the wheelwell and cab. My truck has a newer block with no fuel pump opening and I was tired of listening to the electric pump. maybe under frame tank?

Is there a wheel lift in the bed? Thats about the only way for me it makes sense to butcher the bed in that manner.

I don't know if anybody still makes them, but I have an aftermarket saddle tank on my 1969 C1500. It was installed right after the original owner bought the truck. I can't recall how many gallons it holds, but I'm thinking between 12-16.

Re: 80's model gas tank in 71 c10

A couple of reasons why the rear was chopped. Possible frame damage that couldn't be fixed. Another (which I like better) is that it was a truck used in the repo business and to make it a snatch and drag was to get the flipover boom closer to the axle for weight distribution on the snatched vehicle. I know I have been told that a 3/4 ton was required, but snatch and drag didn't have to do any wrecker requirement. Lots of them running around out in Phoenix when I lived there. BTW I got this truck this way. too much rust to afford a restore. Now I consider it to be a good conversation piece in the Rat Rod World

Thats cool, I thought it had a lift. Makes total sense.
There was one advertised here in Florida looked alot like yours. Heck, I think it even had flames too!
On your tank issue maybe put one back behind the seat where it originally was since your room is limited elsewhere.

Where do you have your fuel pump mounted? You may just try finding a different place t mount it and/or a pump that is less noise than your current pump. Maybe some rubber isolator to decrease the noise.

Here are some of the rubber isolators that would help cut down on your noise.

Here's the link as well
