VIN not showing correct through decoder

Looking at the pictures of the VIN decoders on here and i am very confused.

CE140Z122743

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=570059

Can't find what the "40" is for. And it makes my truck a 71...

This decoder makes sense and puts it as a 2wd, v8, 1/2, 1970, built in fremont, ca.

I do not have a SPID.

Re: VIN not showing correct through decoder

From what I heard most people use this guy at http://outintheshop.com/vin_decode.html The first decode is for the 1970's Chevy & GMC---- 4x2, V-8, 1/2, pickup, 1970, Fremont
So you would be correct.

Re: VIN not showing correct through decoder

Right on. And my 70 GMC should have a SPID shouldn't it?

Re: VIN not showing correct through decoder

The way I see and interpret the decoders, they all suggest your cab is from a 1970 Chevy. Since the 1970 GMC Vin Decoder images both show C (4x2) E (V8) 1 (1/2 ton), but neither show 40 as a model, but the Chevy one says 4 (pickup) 0 (1970). I'm definitely not an expert, and I'm sure there are some other ways to look this up, but yes, I believe a GMC and a Chevy would both have the SPID on the inside of the glovebox door, if it's still original.

Re: VIN not showing correct through decoder

Not original and the title says chevy. Someone made the truck they wanted. Clean title though.
