What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
Hello everyone,
I just purchased a rebuilt S10 T5 non-world class to put in my '65 C10 Longbed. I'd like to hear/see what shifters and sticks others have installed who have done this conversion so I can get a starting point of reference. www.core-shifters.com has come up in my searches on here as a source of good information and products: https://core-shifters.com/pages/swap-bases He suggests getting the tranny in the truck without the shifter on, sitting in the truck and finding a "comfortable" shift position for neutral, then measuring that distance to the base of the flange, and then working backwards from there in order to figure out fulcrum height, stick length and shape, etc. What brand shifter, stick height, shape, etc are you guys running? If you've got pics and references even better! These forums have been a godsend for me on my journey thus far! Thanks in advance for the help.

I used the original shifter handle but I had to cut it and weld it 180 degrees around.

Re: What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
Im 6'1. It rides fine for me. No leaning but maybe a tiny lil bit of stretching to put it in 5th. My first respinse picis it in 1st. The 2nd pic is the stick in neutral. The 3rd is in second gear. The stock T5 handle is barely bendable even under heat. I did my conversion years ago but i remember i had to cut the handle about 3 inches above the cover plate and I had to beat the ever lovin piss out of it to bend a lil and then i welded it 180 around. Took a lil messin aroynd but i had it where i wanted it in less than an hour. I then put shrink tubing around the handle cuz it was so damn ugly. I used the original Chevy shifter bootand the original t5 shift knob. Works great!

Re: What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
Chevylooking thanks for the additional pics. That's definitely something to consider as I am also 6'1". Any idea how long the stick is from the base of the flange to the top of the ball?
Mehoff - That looks to be the 2 bend 16" stick. Am I right? If it is Jocko is running the same 16" Lokar shifter as well and said it works great. No clearance issues in 2nd or 4th? Thanks for the insight and pics!!

Re: What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
It is 16 1/2" from floor mat to top of shifter knob. Sticks about 9" up from my stock bench seat. I mated it to my hopped up 230. Cut about 4 or 5" from the driveline to my 4:11 gears. I used a 88 Camaro WC with the final .63 OD and then swapped the S-10 tail housing. I can do 75-80 comfortably now. Much nicer.

Here is my T5 with a salvage yard shifter. I have NOT found this same shift handle on any vendor site.
If you are handy, you can make one.

Re: What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
Using the S10 shifter that came with the NWC I had at first then heated and bent the shifter stub to clear the bench seat and move closer to my right knee when I swapped in a WC. Also made my own short throw with a 3/4" block and moved the pivot point a like amount. Now has a plain white knob.

Re: What shifter and stick are you running on your T5 swap?
Ended up buying a mustang shifter and the Lokar 16" stick. Got a shift boot retainer and boot for an MGB. Should all be going in tomorrow. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it all together.
