I had good luck getting a bed hauled to KC from Olympia, WA by posting on the "Yesterday's Tractors" website. I think it took about one day to get an offer from some guy that drives a big 0ne-ton Ford Diesel pickup with a flatbed trailer. He hauled the bed for $ 500.00. Cheaper than my having to go get it myself! You might check 'em out. Of course, like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get!
