Fuel gauge wire at fuse panel

1970 c10
My fuel gauge been acting a bit strange.
I checked for power where the tan lead connects at fuse block. I tested It for power with a tester with light bulb. The bulb was dim.
That should be a 12v source right?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Thanks.

Re: Fuel gauge wire at fuse panel

The easiest way to troubleshoot fuel gauge problems is at the sending unit. Don't mess with the cluster or fuse box until you do this first: Slide your seat forward, and with the key on disconnect your tan wire at the sending unit. Your gauge should now read about 3:00. Now ground the tan wire against the top of the sending unit, or the fuel tank, or a known good ground. The gauge should now go to empty. If those two steps work, everything is working properly all the way back to the gauge.

That tells you the problem is in the sending unit <<<< from bstock

Yes. I know that test. Truck is in middle of restoration so it's somewhat stripped.
I just thought it odd that the power from that connector at fuse block was weak.
Is that wire to the fuse panel a 12 volt source for the sending unit? I'm guessing it is
If so I would pick up that power elsewhere since it's weak.

the question is:
Is the tan wire a 12 volt source?
