OEM antenna connector or wire for 64-66

Hi folks,
I acquired this here original antenna, but I have no way to plug it in. My truck did not originally come with a radio, but a PO put one in and installed a cheapo antenna that was a solid connection to the wire.

Wondering if its possible to buy the proper antenna wire alone (e.g. not with the antenna). If not, wonder if the connector style is common enough that I could find one of my own and splice it into the existing wire.

Yeah, hard to find that cable sold individually. Ya know what? It might have the same screw connector as a speedo cable. Do you have any old speedo cables laying around?

Sure don't. The threaded bit is the bit that seems most necessary, as that is what will hold the DIN Female receptor on the end of the antenna. I'm sure I could rig it up to stay in place with a sufficient amount of electrical tape or something, but would prefer to have a secure connection I don't have to worry about.

Not sure if PL259 is the right connector. Here is something that looks kinda close? If the middle pin from my antenna was small enough to fit inside this hollow pin. I have no idea. But guessing the amateur radio crowd might be more knowledgeable.

EDIT: This is not the right connector for the stock antenna.

So it looks like a 63-64 Corvette had the same style manual antenna.

Which means this cable on Amazon would fit:

But I don't really want to drop $30 on a new antenna wire if I could just find the name of that specific connector and splice it in my existing wire.

Re: OEM antenna connector or wire for 64-66

I contacted the company that sells the corvette antenna wire alone (without the antenna) and they said they get it mfg'd in Taiwan, and the components are not available for sale separately.

I found another reference to a mfg called "DII", and an antenna assembly including wire for our trucks called DII Antenna, D-1190E. But so far I can't find just the wire for our truck, or just the connector.

I used to like in Mendocino. There are/ were tons of junkyards up there in the early 2000's. Thats were I got my two trucks. Maybe a nice Saturday of junk diving would turn you up a nice original cable. Have you seen this guy? :https://www.showmecables.com/by-cate...rs/coaxial?p=2

No junkyards nearby that I know of, but maybe it would be a good idea to drive to some if they had any 63-66 trucks on hand because I do need several other things.

I'll look and see in my stash. I may have a connector that you are welcome to have.

Thanks for checking, DPowers, I'd appreciate it. Wife is already on my case about the budget for this truck so trying not to buy any unnecessary components.

I emailed LMC Truck to ask if they'd sell me the cable or just connector without the antenna, but they said no.

Re: OEM antenna connector or wire for 64-66

I sent a follow-up question to LMC to see if they'd reveal their supplier. No response yet, and I am doubtful. Gonna check w/ a few local junk yards this weekend hopefully.

It's funny, so used to being able to find any kind of information at my finger tips, but the details of these old trucks are elusive.

Yep, as suspected, their lips are sealed as to who their supplier is. Can't say I fault them too much.

Re: OEM antenna connector or wire for 64-66

You still have a Radio Shack in Navato, you should take the antenna in there and see if they can match it up to anything they have on hand. Would be worth a try.

Yep good idea. If that one is still in business I'll head there tomorrow. It's less than a mile from my house.

DPowers appreciate your offer to check.

Maybe I can find out the right part number from Radio Shack and post it here for everyone else's benefit.

Re: OEM antenna connector or wire for 64-66

Okay guys, good news. I found a cheap antenna cable that fits the original antenna. Here's the link: http://restorationpartssource.com/st..._moreinfo.html

It's for a 58-66 Impala, and the site says 3' but the one I received was actually 6'. If you look at the picture, the one in the picture appears to be 6' as well. Shipping was kind of slow, I don't think the guy keeps the parts in stock. You may be able to find the same antenna elsewhere. But overall, I'm happy.
