suggestions on painting gauge bpanel

I got a crappy e bay gauge panel ,the outer black part. It was coated with glue from probably one of those glue on chrome panels. I got most of the glue off . Just wondering what to paint it with, spray bomb bed liner or what. It,s something I don,t want to really use but something I can make look half as nice for now. I do have some SEM. promoter if it will help seal the panel

The last one I painted looked like crap... I'll either leave the new used one alone or soak it in purple power to remove all coatings down to the black plastic and call it done.
I have a gauge panel that's pretty nice from a 91 burb (still a square) I parted years ago. Its got a brown no pattern inlay. PM if you want it...

I did one used "black wrinkle paint" turned out great. Just taped off the gauge round area's.

I painted mine in my dually.

Thoroughly cleaned & degreased the panel.
Sprayed & wiped it down w/degreaser.
Sprayed it lightly w/adhesion promoter.


This is where mine differs..... I used a 'home improvement' type of rattle can spray texture finish on the areas where the factory texture was originally (on the panel). I did this so the gauge panel & dash/door trim all were consistent. Areas that didn't have texture/grain were masked off prior to spraying the stone texture.

Once that dried, I top coated the gauge panel & dash/door trim w/Satin Black.

Your talking about the instrument bezel right? I used Krylon Satin Black Plastic paint - matches my stock GM dash bezel's satin black almost perfect.

Good deal, yeah the finish is very close, was really happy with the look too.

well I got it done.Came out quite nice considering all the glue that was on it,had to use a little dremel with a soft wire wheel.I tried bed-liner and it looked nice but went to the krylon stuff.
