Re: 1967 k10 questions
67 would have a dana 44 closed knuckle drum front axle, 71 may be open knuckle with disc brakes which is a good thing. Transfer case on the 67 is probably an Eaton T221??? and on the 71 should be a NP205 which is a good thing. If 71 is a 350 with 350 turbo or a np465, should swap ok, Rear diff should swap ok. Power steering on the 71 should fit the 67. Others will know more.

Re: 1967 k10 questions
67 would have from factory, sm 420, Rockwell t221 transfer case closed knuckle drum front 44.
71: open knuckle disk brake 44, Sm 465 or turbo 350, np 205 Power steering isn't exactly a direct swap in that the 67 frame isn't dimpled for the steering box. It's not hard to do but be forewarned. Obviously the 4x4 parts are different but If you've got all the parts from the k5 they will swap.

Re: 1967 k10 questions
My question is, why swap the parts unless they are broken? There is not a thing wrong with any of these '67 parts.

Re: 1967 k10 questions
The leaf springs are also different from 67 to 71. They wont swap without relocating your spring mounts.

Re: 1967 k10 questions
I just bought a 67 K10 short bed stepside with a 292 three on a tree. Everyone says good luck for parts, is this true?

Re: 1967 k10 questions
no!
its more challenging because its a first year of the series but if your going all origonal then it is merely a bit more challenging. the greatest challenge I have found is idiot vendors who group all parts together and assume 67-68 parts interchange directly with 69 to 72. not so as others above have stated. the three speed set up is the same as any three speed set up for those years. I have a 68k20 with only 13k miles on it so the challenge is very interesting but worth it I also have a 72c10 with the three speed on the column ans it poses its own challenge but when set up properly with no more than ordinry care and servicing it has worked flawlessly for the 6 years and 41k miles I have driven it anticipate problems and buy parts you stumble across on ebay. nobody respects the three speed and so parts are cheep and plenty of NOS and used for sale here and on ebay. Ilove them both and the 292 is vertually indestructable. I'm actually jelous |

Mike is correct. It's a ltitle more of a challenge, but it's worth it. This website is a big help with locating what you need.

Re: 1967 k10 questions
Don't know about 3s on Trees, but if you have a 292 mounted on the rare K-series crossmember and engine mounts you're way ahead.
