It's Finally Here: Project 4x4 Family Hauler/Daily Driver
I finally finished my Landcruiser project and I am now looking to move onto my Burban. What I have is a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 Custom Deluxe Suburban in Hugger Orange.
What I am looking to do with the build is: 96 Cummins 6BT/07 Allison 6-speed Auto/NP205 4" Alcan spring lift w/rear air bags for towing OEM axles (D44 Front HO52 Rear w/detroit) Original Front and Rear A/C Tilt Steering Power Locks/Power Windows/Cruise Control Custom A/V with built in displays Lizzard Skin sound deadner and cermaic coating Custom interior/seats (includes 1 full bench/2 short benches) custom Gauges I believe the list above covers everything. I do know I don't want to take away from the look and feel of the Suburban, so I will be carful about what mods I do and how they will look in the end. I have attached some before pictures, hopefully I will be able to move forward pretty quickly. I will post pictures of the progress. Thanks Scott |

Re: It's Finally Here: Project 4x4 Family Hauler/Daily Driver
Sorry I haven't given any updates, attached are pictures of where the project sits now. I am currently in the process of pulling the motor which should be completed this week. When I started this thread I was under the impression that this was going to be a quick build with the majority of my time focued on this build, I was wrong. The next 6 months or so of my time will be focused on a home remodel for me and my family. I do still believe I will have time to work on the project, but it will be a lot slower than expected. Please bear with me I definitly want to share this build with everyone on this board.
Thanks Scott |

Sounds like it's going to be a great build DieselFJ, can't wait for the progress.
I don't want to stray from your post but do you have a link to your FJ build? I have had my 76 FJ40 for close to 30 years. I rebuilt it about 15 years ago.

Wow, cruiser looks great, especially after 15 years. I never did a build thread on my 40, but I really wish I had, thus the reason for the Suburban build thread. Attached are a couple of pictures as my Cruiser sits now.

Thanks, it took a while, but it's finally done. I am really excited to get the Suburban into the same condition, but there will definitely be a learning curve for me, I have spent very little time wrenching on a Chevy.

You'll find them pretty easy. No harder than the Toyota. I refer to FJ's as a Japanese Chevy. The body was inspired by the Jeep and the engine was inspired by the GMC 6 in duece and a halfs.

Opened this back up so he can continue his build if he wants. I am seeing if I can get the deleted post remnants removed.... LockDoc
