Tailgate latches?

I've got hidden hinges, the hidden latches won't work. What are folks doing for tailgate latches? No chains on my '53.

What's wrong with the hidden latches? The ones I've seen work pretty good..I'm planning on using them on mine

Re: Tailgate latches?

I guess you don't believe me when I say that they won't work. The part of the pin that extends into the outer part of the bedside hits not on the flat section but on the curved part of the stake pocket.

Re: Tailgate latches?

I know they're nice...I had a set of them. Thats why I know they won't work in my situation. I'm looking for other options.

Re: Tailgate latches?

I've seen people use seat belt buckles for tailgate latches...obviously not hidden, but inside of tailgate and look okay. I'll try to attatch a link to a photo. Not mine.

Here's what I did on mine, hidden on the outside, extremely solid on the inside.

Re: Tailgate latches?

LMC Trucks, and instead of the cables I'm doing Mar-k 102834S Tail Gate Link Assembly Stainless Steel.
