Question Searching for factory hood hinges. Need help!

I'm looking for some factory hood hinges to have sent out and rebuilt. My current ones are repops and one of the rivets is looking like it is going to fail. My question is how to tell original from repops? Everything I have read makes me want to avoid the GM ones from the later 80's and newer. Do the originals have anything stamped on them?
As always thanks in advance.

Re: Searching for factory hood hinges. Need help!

Coincidentally, today was "hinge day". Pulled my springs off, and I'm ready to send NOS springs with my original hinges off to Willie at http://www.hoodhingerepair.com

I figure to have him finish coat these the Eastwood phosphate he's using.

GM later than 80s no good huh? Interesting. Anyway, here's your info.

BTW, just because my original hinges have the markings cited doesn't mean they all did. May have varied based on vendor, etc. From what I've seen however, all the original hinges had the rivets in the pic.

Re: Searching for factory hood hinges. Need help!

Last week I reinstalled my hood after Willie ( like in post #2 ) http://www.hoodhingerepair.com redid my hinges. I also had a new cowl to hood seal installed and I know sometimes when you install the new cowl seals they will hold the back of the hood up for a while. With the rebuilt hinges down it went like it should. Get a set of originals rebuilt and you will be very satisfied.

Not sure if it helps, but Manes Truck Parts sells good used hinges.

If your still looking I have a set. They are from a parted truck and were in a parts lot I bought.

Re: Searching for factory hood hinges. Need help!

Like others have mentioned, go with Willie. I had him restore mine a couple of months ago. Beautiful work and well worth the investment.
