I may go look at one of these.
Both look like nice trucks and decent prices. Are these actually considered 2.5 tons, or legal to only haul 4500lbs, seems light, so may not work for what I want.

Re: I may go look at one of these.
I like the '64 better, but the '73 is definitely the better deal.
They are basically 2-Tons, but could have a GWV roughly anywhere from 19,500 to 26,000. Which means you could haul roughly anywhere between 11,000 to 15,000 Lbs on them depending. The '73 looks like it will have the higher GVW between the two, but ask what the GVW's are to be sure, located on the Tags.

Re: I may go look at one of these.
That's the info is was looking for, both aren't too far away, so I may look at them both. I prefer the '64 as well, but like you say the '73 is a better deal and a V8, but I'm sure the 292 is plenty for the '64.

That '64 is dang cool. What are you planning to haul out of curiosity?

Re: I may go look at one of these.
The 73 is cheaper but after adding the cool factor of the 64 (and it does look to be in nicer shape) the 64 may actually be the better deal. I think what it all boils down to is which one might get more use? If it is just parade duty or truck shows the 64 will no doubt get more attention...

Re: I may go look at one of these.
I love the 60-66 trucks, but the square bodies are... although not nearly as old/classic... are cool old trucks in their own right. You don't see these being run much of anywhere now and they reflect a style from '73. That's 44 years ago. Remember how different it was in '73? That thing is a steel at that price. I always liked the look of these medium duties. I like the body style better on these than on a pickup.
There's a wrecker near me I'd like to buy. Sharp looking truck. The guy runs a rollback and sells cars some. This has no sign, so not sure which way he's going with it. I need to drop by and see...as if I had cash ready to talk

Re: I may go look at one of these.
Well, being that we are well on our way to taking over my Father in laws 260 acre farm, it would be used for whatever we need, haul fertilizer, seed, equipment, gravel...you name it, so the dump on the '73 is definitely more appealing plus I've always been more of a '73 and up guy with these trucks. I have cash in hand as I just sold my car, so I can definitely move on one if I so choose.

Re: I may go look at one of these.
Speaking in practical terms, the Dump Bed on the '73 is what really puts the value up on it. That one looks professionally built to boot.
