Vin-
Trying to decode a vin for my neighbors new to him hand me down K-20 but the year digit isn't right or I'm just that dumb-

I have heard of the the glove box VIN being typed out wrong in other posts. Not sure is this is the problem here, but I would verify it against the driver door pillar VIN tag.

Use the door plate VIN or frame VIN, which is located by the steering box on the top of the drivers side framerail.
It's a good chance to match those two up anyway to make sure that there wasn't a frame or cab swap. Good luck! |

You have a 1970 or 1971 GMC Vin
KE204-Z?????? K = 4wd E = V-8 2 = 3/4Ton 04 = Fenderside (stepside) - = Space reserved for special designation code Z = Assembly plant, Freemont ? This is the space for the year. looks like a 1 for 1971 but it is particaly blocked by the green scratch. If it is a Z then it's 1970 ????? = serial number Here is a GMC Decoder for 1970 and 1971
