Pitman arm?

Do I need to lower the gearbox in order to remove the pitman arm from the gear box and center link? I have both sides loose but it wont come off....

Re: Pitman arm?

What do you mean by loose? The nuts are loose, or you broke the taper on both ends of the shafts. I needed to release the idler arm to center link connection as well so I could pivot the center link on the tie rods and wiggle the pitman arm out. Are you only replacing the pitman arm or steering box, or are you doing other work as well?

Re: Pitman arm?

Ok, that makes sense. I will also be replacing the idler arm as well. I have the pitman arm to steering shaft nut on its the other end that's being a PITA.
