Glove box closing

I just spent the last hour messing with this glove blox door that I had repainted trying to get it to close (latch) nicely. I know this isn't a modern glove box and it's not going to have that feel to it. I have to close the door and then push in on it to get it to latch. Are they all this way and is there some adjustments(tweaking) that I can do? The original door I don't seem to remember it shutting as rough. Maybe I'm trippin.

did you install new gloove box door bumpers? that could cause that extra resistance. You can bend (tweak) the latching tab on the top of the opening some to make it easier to latch.
