Titles vin number ??

Just wondering if anyone else is VIN number on their title is only seven numbers and letters my title VIN number only shows the assembly plant the series the assembly number and the gross vehicle weight rating which is the last seven numbers and letters of the 12 digit Vin just wondering if anybody else's title is like this because my VIN tag on the truck has all 12 letters and numbers not just the last seven

I think you're o.k. Not sure of other states, but the DMV here in Colorado told me that the last 7 numbers/letters are acceptable on the title. On my request they corrected the title to include all 12 characters.

Mine is a short VIN as well. When I first bought my 65 Sub from my dad in 1993, MVD here wouldn't register it because "it didn't have enough numbers". I told them old trucks didn't have 17 digits like they do now. Goes to show you these people don't always know what they are doing.

Mine also has only 7 digits. No problem with Oregon DMV getting it registered like that.

DMV's are all over the spectrum for sure. My local one told me that my 67 GMC VIN should have less than 12 characters, even though my VIN plate is factory untouched and passed an official VIN inspection.
