68 Chevy C10 Stepside
Hi, new here. I'm from Louisiana. I have a 68 Chevy C10 Stepside. I'm currently working on the wood bed. The guy who had the truck before me put ......pine, tongue in groove paneling, yes, you read correctly...for the bed. Until I can get the correct kit, the right wood & silver strips, I'm sprucing up this one, so I'm posting pics from beginning to mid-project. Hope y'all like it. I decided to do something a lil different. I use to work on furniture, so I applied some of my skills to the wood bed. Sanded it completely, stained it with a shade of chestnut, now I'm making the outer part of each board darker, fading into the lighter center. After that's thru, I'm putting spar urethane on it to protect it. Any comments?

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside
Thank you so much GR8-68! I've worked hard on it! Haven't gotten to the semi- gloss coat yet, but I work full- time, so my free time is limited.

Welcome to the board. Nice truck, keep us posted with updates. 68 stepside is on my wish list.

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside
Thank you nds1968 ! I just finished the stain, need to fine sand here & there to even out a few places, but that won't take long. As soon as I get thru with that, semi-gloss goes on!!! 😊😊😊 Hoping to have it ready by Friday night, because we have a cruise here where I live & everyone is ready to see the refinished bed.

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside
That floor actually looks pretty good after you reworked it. I've never seen someone do a tongue and groove floor, but it works. To the untrained eye it looks like it could have come that way. Overall the truck looks good too. Never get tired of seeing new 67/68s.

Re: 68 Chevy C10 Stepside
This bed floor was actually in there before I got the truck. I'm planning on getting the correct wood & rails for the bed within the next year, so I thought I'd make the best of what I had for now.
