WalMart MAXX 78S
Just put in this battery, 650 CCA, replacing an Interstate Mega Tron II also 650 CCA which was starting to act up but now with this Heatwave sweeping thru central Cali, 109+ it couldn't take the heat, anybody else running this battery and how long has it lasted?

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
Running an Energizer Max from Sam's Club, 795CCA, with a 4/14 manufacture date.
You could have lost the battery lottery, that is what the warranty is for. My luck is the battery becomes iffy about a year before the end of the warranty and about two years after the receipt got lost. |

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
I have used that battery several times and regularly get about 5 years out of it give or take. No complaints.

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
3 weeks on one.
10+ years in the diesel. Goes flat if let sit 3 months, but other than that, keeps on fring it up. Usually they fail quickly or good for at least 7 years, given reasonable charging rate. Don't ever kill it - first time a battery goes flat it permanently loses 15-20% of its capacity.

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
Batteries today are hit and miss. I ran a WM batteries with no issues in a couple different vehicles for 4+ yrs but then people say they crap out in days.... I now have an Autocraft Gold which has just crossed the 3 yr mark, it tests down 100 amps from it's rating but still keeps kickin...

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
johnson controls and exide make about 90% of the batteries that are sold in the united states, and even some brands you thought made their own (interstate)
Diehards (sears), Everstarts (walmart), Surestarts, etc, etc

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
I bought one for the Cav and it was dead when I installed it. I took it back for a refund and got an Interstate from Costco. Costco has their Interstate batteries stocked every month by the Interstate truck, so I think they are "fresher." Also, Costco has a 3 year replacement warranty.

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
Battery is a battery. They all last about the same amount of time when comparing similar types.

I've run several Maxx batteries, and I've had great luck with them. I'm not too far from that central Cali heat, only a little higher altitude so when you're 109, I'm only 101. But when you're 35 degrees, I'm -10. It gets cold cold cold here. My last MAXX battery lasted 8+ years with daily use, and my current is 4+ and I am trying my best to kill it. I've developed a weird problem in my F*rd, when it rains I need to crank the engine for (no joke) 5 solid minutes. And that battery does it, it cranks and cranks and cranks and cranks. It has treated me VERY well.

Re: WalMart MAXX 78S
I have one, tag of 4/14.
I've run it flat half a dozen times, still takes a charge and fires the Ole 400 off, when she'll fire anyways.
