I wouldn't paint it if you want it to appear original and like new. I may be criticized for this, but, if you've cleaned it thoroughly without using abrasives and it isn't covered with scratches, try applying a protectant such as ArmorAll or Son Of A Gun then wipe it off almost immediately. Personally, I prefer Son Of A Gun. The shroud will stay looking good (and original) a long, long time. I also used it on the evaporator box and it looks new.
