Amount of oil in rear end.
Just a quick question, how much oil (approx) will it take to fill a 12 bolt diff with 3.73:1 posi in it?
I have the rear end out and I would like to fill it from the diff cover.

I think its like 2 quarts, but thats a guess, I know I fill it till it gets to the plug hole, and it seems like it takes almost 2 of the tall skinny bottles that 90 weight comes in.

Do yourself a favor and get one of those cheap thumb pumps for putting gearlube in outdrives on boats. There at wally world for 5 bucks. Much easier than squeezing those tall skinny quarts.

It sounds like you have the differential out and turned with the cover up. 3 1/2 pints will fill the rear end so that when you check it installed, the lube will be at the plug line where it should be.
