Alternator Bolt

I removed my alternator and took it for a redo. On the curved adjustable bracket for the alternator the bolt that does throught to the alternator doesn't look right to me. As you can see in the attached pic there is just abolt there no washer or anything else. Does anyone have an original alternator with the original factory bolt in it so I can see the proper way to secure the alternator. My bracket was broken and I have an original to replace it with.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Alternator Bolt

Ace hardware has hardened washers. Everyone I had on there used to bend into a cup. The threaded hole in that alt always will give way after a while due to tightening. Its a die cast assembly and it is not very suitable for the application.

I removed that junk, bored out the threaded hole on the alt then replaced all with hardened nut, washers, and bolt.

No issues now.

That sounds like a plan.

Re: Alternator Bolt

bolt with a flat washer and the bolt should be long enough to go all the way through and catch all the threads on the alternator or it will strip out
