Are square body Chevys/GMCs getting more popular?

The 73-76 market is probably the hardest I've ever searched in. Especially looking for a crewcab. I found so many that were recently destroyed or neglected. Their value is not realized yet by the masses. Most don't know they're different from the 77-79/80s, and even more don't realize they're different from 80-87.

I am also wondering what parts are now impossible to find for our trucks?
I'm talking not available from LMC, Brothers, etc....
I have heard about the step side fuel filler hose being rare,
from what I have heard a Suburban roof rack and rear spoiler are also tough to find.
Also cannot find the rubber pieces that go around the hood hinges that are bolted to the fender.
Are there any other parts that nobody can seem to find?

75-76 grilled are hard to find, took forever to find one for my 75, restoring it now. Found 3 73-74 and 1 77-78 while looking...

1977 exterior moldings. 77 is the only year with gold instead of black.
fuel switch-over valves, the 6 port one wire valve.
10 bolt posi clutch service kit

Lots of nice Squares here in north Georgia and it's a mix of work truck, daily drivers and more than the average " very nice " examples.

I can see the rarity with regard to geographic.

They are getting much more rare and it's nice seeing my area holding on to the past.

Yes, it seems odd cause when I was looking for a truck in like 2004-2006, I could not find a good running truck I could afford but I was looking for a 67-72 swb. I found a 79 stepside with the rusted out floors and all that. I found a parts truck that was actually in better shape than mine was to help in the first restoration non running but all there for like $3k. the first truck I got was $600 with a dead battery. Parts is another issue cause some companies want an arm and a leg for stuff not made in the USA and of low quality. I am in the ending stages of my truck build so parts is of great concern to me. I am not building it myself just financing the venture as best I can.

I remember the 67-72 always being expensive. Back in the late 90s early 00s people would just giive you 80s trucks. Pre-square bodies were always costly around here

Squarebodies are huge in popularity around here! I am not sure what people are actually getting for them but I see guys asking $4000 and up for a basic longbed 2wd 73-80 truck needing some work. I feel the price on these will continue to escalate for the next 10 years or so before leveling off.

I'm still amazed at how popular the squarebody has become. I guess being a little older and probably where I grew up, the 67-72 was always the most desirable of all the chevy trucks, although mid fifties were pretty popular too.

Now I see squarebody NOS parts going for equal and many times more than 67-72 NOS parts. Although getting into a 73-87 is still cheaper than a 67-72; but those numbers are getting closer as well.

I think the popularity and prices will continue to rise. First off they are still available, and somewhat affordable compared to any other classic car.

But,,,,,,

Every year, in every major town in the nation there are multiple guys buying up every one they come across and parting them out. Not to mention the ones that just get hauled to the recycle yards. Don't blame em. They are making a living. Providing a service. Every one that gets parted out make the rest more valuable.

I have 3 now and a suburban (& other makes) so no more on my radar, but, ???? I found a perfect C20 in the same yellow and white color (no motor/trans.) a couple years ago. It's a match to my K20 yellow and white except better paint. $600. I had to buy it and stash it. Just in case.

As to the post on Frieburger's C10, I thought that was a 67-72?

I have given thought to starting a square body parts collection...but they are nearly nonexistent in the junk yards..also seems silly to buy running trucks just to cannibalize for parts..around here trucks go from driving to the crusher..lots of good usable parts being crushed...much easier for people too sell to the crusher than haul to the wrecking yard..

I've parted tons of vehicles out, way I see it is one dies, dozens live because of it.
