Will a cab from a '71 C60 fit a '72K10???
I accidentally posted this on the 4x4 board, but I wasn't sure how to post a like here.
I looked at a '71 C60 cab and interior that are in perfect condition today and from the firewall back it looks like the cab should fit on a '72 K10 frame that I have. Does anyone out there know if it will fit? Thanks!! |

Nope. If you look closely at the C60 front floor, front cab supports, rockers and the bottom front corners of the doors you will see they are different than the 1/2 ton cabs.

Cab is in good shape. I was wondering if it could be used for another project. Thanks, |

Cab corners, most of the floor, rear cab supports, the part of the rockers that is there (just a litttle short), the doors with a patch added to the lower front, dash and probably quite few other parts can be used so the cabs are definitely are worth getting if the price is right. Some of that sheet metal survived better on the big trucks and good oem GM tin is hard to come by.

The cab will bolt right on, same cab mounts, you will have to add lower front pillars so you will have the spot to bolt the lower portion of your fenders. You will also have to add about a 6" extension on your rockers or just replace with new ones. There are some other things that will have to be done like replacing the steering column brace and cutting a new hole in the firewall but the indention is already there to use as a pattern. There are some draw backs from using these cabs like less leg room because of the extreme angle of the front toe board and the heater box hangs lower and more forward. Very few of these cabs had the big back glass and I have never seen one with AC.

THANKS
I appreciate the info. I wasn't sure if it would work or not. I will still be buying the truck. It's a1971 C-60 that a local fire department uses as a tanker truck. It has 19,000 miles on it and has spent it's entire life in a heated building. It has a 427 tall deck. The price is right anyway, and my dad and I were thinking it would make a pretty sweet car hauling rig if we can build a deck for it!!!!!

Virginia.... you could always build a tow rig with that C60...
Otherwise looks like parts could be used if you wanted to. Personally, I think it'd be neat to take one and stick newer axles under it so brake parts are easier to get with a more common rim pattern (drop centers even!). |

When it rains it pours
Just found a '69 C60 with an 18ft. box on the back. We may buy that one too. We figure it would be the ultimate parts wagon, fill the 18ft box up with parts and then pull a double car hauling trailer behind it. It's crazy...so crazy it's too tempting not to do it!!
