Automatic locks 65 C10
Anyone on here have a good lead on a suitable automatic door lock system for the 64-66 C10? I have found one that 'may' work at Electric-Life
https://www.electric-life.com/produc...-remote-start/ but in considering how these particular trucks lock and unlock using the door handle, I was wondering how effective this system would be. I guess it would connect on the same arm as the door release and it would actually move the inner door handle up or down in accordance with the lock or unlock position. My concern is when in the unlock position, would the inner door handle work as it should? It seems if the two (door handle linkage and the auto lock linkage) were on the same arm, they might restrict one another in their normal operation. At any rate this is my conundrum and if anyone has successfully done this or even heard of it being done, please let me know. many thanks, Ken |

Rock,
thanks for posting the link, I sincerely appreciate it. It does confirm my fears that I must manipulate the heck out of the door lock mechanism in order to do this. I can and will do it but it wont be easy. thanks again! Ken |

Re: Automatic locks 65 C10
I also saw how converting to power wouldn't result in a typical or later model system. So I thought about converting it to a later model truck system that had the push/pull lock knob. It even looked the door latches would convert relatively easy. I almost did it but I couldn't decide where the lock cylinder would look right under the exterior door handle.
I'm sure it would work but that's when I decided to forgo all the modern amenities and stick with the way it came from the factory. |
