What are these huge flares covering up?

So this blazer is original paint and rust free. Unfortunately, it has these monstrosities installed. Owner said he thought they were clamped somehow but I told him I could live with the drill holes but not if the fenders were cut. He says no but I don't see how they couldn't be. Thoughts?

That's what it looks like to me too. He has emailed me again saying no cuts and clamps are used to hold in place. 300 mile drive to check it out

There is enough clearance I would have him get his phone up there and take a bunch of pictures then.

If those are the old Bushwacker flares, then yes, the fenders do require trimming to make them fit. Not a big deal on the front fenders because they can be easily replaced. But more of an issue in the rear if the quarter panels have been cut.

I hope I am wrong, but the purpose of those flares was to make room for bigger tires by opening up the wheel arches. Definitely have the owner take more pictures up inside the wheel wells.

BTW, I'd check on that "original paint" claim. The side mirror on the driver side door has been deleted along with the fender badges, and the holes filled in/painted over. What else has been painted over?

If they are clamped it should be an easy thing to un-clamp them and take a picture to send to you...

Thanks. I here same thought about fronts being no big deal. The owner didn't claim original paint just original black paint on spid which I haven't seen yet.

If he cant give you proof of his own statements, who knows what else he is lying about on that rig....

I've got a set of bushwackers on my 68 longhorn that I converted to dually, no cutting required. They covered up the tire stick out perfectly

I stand corrected. Hopefully my misinformation didn't spoil any potential sale of this Blazer. Next time I need to check my facts before I speak

regardless the fact still remains, if this seller isnt willing to take photos of the wheel well, or the seam under the flare, its not worth dealing with him in my book

a good honest seller should be more than capable of taking a few iphone photos and texting or emailing them.
