Quick Dissconnect Steering Wheel
Is there a kit that you can use with your factory steering wheel to make it quick disconnect for theft protection?

Re: Quick Dissconnect Steering Wheel
I am not aware of one for a stock wheel. I know Grant makes a kit but you have to use one of their wheels.

Yes I found those but I was wanting to keep the stock look if I could. I'm going to keep looking.

Re: Quick Dissconnect Steering Wheel
I don't think you're going to find one. The problem is that QR adapters are still about as thick as any regular adapter hub for aftermarket steering wheels. The adapter hub itself is what attaches to the splined shaft of the steering column. Original steering wheels have the hub built into them, which also connect to the shaft.
The QR adapter would have to have a splined shaft extension for the original wheel to attach to. At that point, you're looking at pushing the steering wheel out another 3-4". Now I don't know your stature, but I'm a big guy and these trucks don't have that much room to begin with. Adding that much length to the steering column and wheel would make driving almost impossible. The only way you might get away with one is by using one of the 3-spoke Vette/Camaro/Chevelle style wheels since they have a flat mounting surface and utilize a hub adapter. To my knowledge, they use a 3-hole mount, and most QR hubs use a 5,6, or 9 bolt pattern.
