What is this silver box by the fusebox?
Hello again!
Working on my daughters 67 C10 some more. Been having some electrical issues, but think I have it narrowed down to the battery (Which was new! lol) I do have a question... When I first hook the battery up, this silver box clicks. Each time I pull the neg cable off, then put it back on, it clicks. What is it, and should it click everytime I hook up the battery? It is to the right of the fusebox on the firewall. Thanks! |

That is the relay for the horn.

Re: What is this silver box by the fusebox?
Is it supposed to click when I hook up the battery? The horn button in the steering column isn't hooked up, it has a smaller aftermarket steering wheel on it with no horn, I assume the wire is just "In there" somewhere in the column....

Re: What is this silver box by the fusebox?
The wire may be grounding inside the column. If you are not using the horn you can unhook the relay.

Re: What is this silver box by the fusebox?
From the look of the wiring someone may have installed a remote horn button. I had horn issues ended up the turn signal lever retaining screw in the steering wheel had come loose so I had to pull the wheel to tighten I live in a big city definitely need my horn.

Re: What is this silver box by the fusebox?
The previous owner had did some "Creative" wiring.. lol.. So I assume the clicking means the wire in the column must be grounding? I want to hook up a horn in the future with a different steering wheel, but for now won't be using a horn. So I can just unplug it without it affecting anything else till I can get to hooking up a horn button?

Is this a NO or NC relay ,, could account for clicking when energized
