Narrowed control arms question
I have purchased a set of narrowed control arms from Porterbuilt to use on my 72 C10 and was wondering if anyone else were having problems with excessive tire wear, I only have 25,000 kilometers on this truck and have gone through 2 sets of tires on the front. It has been aligned to the factory specs of the 72 C10 and the shop that did it isn't getting any response of the situation from Porterbuilt. Is this a problem with the early Chevy trucks in general or the control arm geometry..?

Re: Narrowed control arms question
What's the condition of your tie rods, idler arm and pitman arm?
Have your alignment guy try to dial in as much caster as possible. 5-7 degrees would be nice.

Re: Narrowed control arms question
Everything is new and when I had talked with Nate he said everything should be set to factory specs. The dealership I deal with have been trying to contact him and are getting no response, I'm wondering if there is a flaw in the design. They have had to grind back the webbing on the cross member just to get the factory caster because of the way this upper control arms are made..
It's the outer tire that is wearing to the core in short time.. |

Re: Narrowed control arms question
Sounds toe'd in too much.
Any other changes? Is it bagged or extremely static dropped?

Re: Narrowed control arms question
2 inch modular drop spindles from CPP and 1 inch lowering coils ,the control arms are narrowed 1 inch
This was all done so it would work on my panel truck https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...ic297210_7.gif |
