U-Joints
A friend of mine has a '89 1/2 Ext Cab that breaks the rear u-joint about every 12,000 miles. The truck has been lowered in the rear. Anyone got any ideas as to what is wrong?

Does it have the 2-piece driveshaft? The lowering kit should have included a wedge for the rear-end to retain the correct angle on the drive-shaft. If the wedge was not installed correctly the driveshaft angle will place greater stress on the U-joints causing them to wear out quickly.

I break or wear out the rearmost u-joint evert year or so. I actually was talking about this yesterday whith some other GM truck owners, who lose the rearmost once a year. I say it's the fact that the u-joint can only be grased out of the truck, so its the once a year that the joint gets greased. Check pinion angle and for loose mounts, but if you drive your rig hard then one u-joint once a year is kinda typical
