Do these trucks hold heat under the hood?

I was just wondering if anyone has noticed there truck holding heat in under the hood. My truck has a 350. it runs great, engine runs cool, it just seems like when I open the hood, a lot of heat comes out.

I think all vehicles feel the same way. The engine produces a ton of heat they when you shut it down, the cooling system is no longer operational and with the truck sitting still, heat just stays there until it dissipates. Open the hood, and get a face full of heat!

Yes they can if not running properly, think about what a clogged heater core would do!

I was just early on in the day standing next to to a engine starting up for it frist time scenes it's rebuild outside on a nice home made test stand , started up tune it in , running at a hundred and eighty temp ,all is good but man that heat just standing next to it out in the open ,man I was cooking. lol

I have noticed that mine gets pretty toasty too, but it's nothing compared to the 2.0T in my VW. After a ride in that thing every bit is scorching hot under and including the hood.

Depends on engine setup too. I have a 5.3 with headers, a nice aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. 5.3 are hot running motors but pop the hood after driving and it is not overwhelmingly hot.

Yes. Your truck, and other vehicles, runs at about double the temperature of a really hot day. There you are sweating your butt off on a 90 degree day and you open the hood. That 180 degree air feels hot hot. That's not far from boiling, it's scalding hot. Now your exhaust manifolds, those get way hotter than running temp. Those are exposed to air straight off a fire. Just about everything under there is metal that absorbs the heat. And 180 is the temperature of the cooled circulating water, not the source of the heat. It sure feels good in the winter!
