Front Sway Bar Question
THis afternoon I am going to my friends shop and change my stock factory front sway bar for a 1 1/4 bar with the poly bushing. I am going to have the truck on a hoist but its the type that holds up the vehicle by the frame as opposed to the type you drive on. Because of the hoist type my front suspension will be dangling as opposed to having a load on it. Does it make a difference whether the suspension is dangling or loaded when installing front sway bar ?

Re: Front Sway Bar Question
No real difference. But it helps to have a under hoist screw jack support when on the lift to allow you to raise the control arms as needed.

Re: Front Sway Bar Question
I recently bolted my front bar back on with the front suspension hanging. No problem.

Re: Front Sway Bar Question
Its done now and yes I could have done it laying on the ground too. At 68 the up and down and crawling around stuff is hard on me now, if I have a chance to stand and do something I'll take it. I should have taken some before and aft pics but didnt but its on there now and I could immediatly feel the difference in the front end from the orignal sway bar with its tired bushings.

Re: Front Sway Bar Question
I'm 20 years your junior Sir. The up and down and crawling around is my biggest deterrent against being productive in my shop.

Re: Front Sway Bar Question
After the last post I did my usual EBay truck surfing and looking at the pics of one truck I see what you mean by greseable bushings. I didn't know there was such a thing. I put a sway bar on my first truck in 2005 with the same bushing I used yesterday ( and used the same supplied lube during install) and between then and 2014 when i sold the truck I never heard a squeak.
