broken spring on steering column
I broke the spring on the column where the gear shift selector goes on an automatic. How do I replace this spring?
Can it be replaced from top somehow or does the whole column head have to be taken apart. Hopefully there are a few column experts here to answer this

You can pull it out with a pick, and slide the new one in there, it may take a few tries, but we do them at the shop like that all the time. (we have a contract with Frito Lay, and rebuild 6 P-30 trucks a month)

Great!!!
Thanks longhorn man! Is the spring still available from gm or do I have to get it from another tilt column? Is it the same from a standard column? Our year or van tilt years as this is a van tilt

GM dealer has them.
Like Longhorn Man, I used to work in a shop where I changed them daily. Post Office trucks used GM steering columns and they break the spring all the time..
