Re: Cheyenne vs. Cheyenne Super value

Here's the only few pics I've got of the blue 72 before I tore it down. Truck was complete, but pretty rough. It's just a cab and frame sitting in the garage now. I've replaced the bed and have nice sheetmetal for the front. I'll get some pics of the green one soon - working lots of OT this week.

Re: Cheyenne vs. Cheyenne Super value

I know it's all opinion and I hate to offend people, but medium olive is my least favorite color for 1972 and I do not like solid paint schemes. Would it be a sin to change the color and two-tone it? Most of my trucks are medium blue, but I sure do like the red-orange and white.

Ah, but it will grow on you, even if like a fungus EVERYone has a hugger n white truck! (and I sure miss my old one, so you may be onto something...) Paint it however you like, but it is such a nice original piece, hard to decide I bet. (to answer your question, yes, it's a sin; JUST kidding of course - but it will grow on you, trust me!))

Re: Cheyenne vs. Cheyenne Super value

If it were me, I would put it back totally stock.
If anything,maybe ad upper mouldings.
Solid color trucks look nice that way
I'm sure it would get more looks in a different color
And might even command more $ to the general buyer?
But, it's a pretty rare bird the way it came from the factory
And for the purists, it's different
Not
Just what looks the prettiest, and is in fashion at the moment

Good luck with, a hard decision

The blue super is easy, All stock, no deviations
Maybe do that one first
So you have time to decide on the green one
Although the green one looks to be a much easier project

I know I'm in the minority but I vote for the Cheyenne. Regardless, keep us posted on your decision and progress.

Re: Cheyenne vs. Cheyenne Super value

Now that I have seen both trucks, here's what I would do in your shoes. The olive truck, I would detail the interior, under hood and chassis. Make it weatherproof in the gutter area and drive the crap out of it with the org paint while I mulled over a color change. The most I would do would be later on would put white in the middle and top if you added the upper molding like was suggested. I would then move on to the blue one and restore it to suit my needs. You sir , would have two trucks that most of us would walk over broken glass to have. I love them both.
