After reading an article in Hot Rod or Street Rodder about fan issues - go with electric!! I had a situation that fan on 56 I am working on sat low too. Not as low as yours but did go in the lower tank area. That creates a different flow than straight thru radiator fins - and can cause a lot of fan failures - that is what the article was all about. Will actually bend the blades at higher speeds. Makes sense when you really think about it so go with a good electric fan and get the relay / temp sensor kit too.

My ex Taurus fan and shroud will blow your hair back when you open the hood. Ugly but works.

yeah im definitely going to have too. later on this month up in jefferson county wisconson they have a huge swap meet and theres always a radiator guy up there. ill probably get one then unless the prices are insane.
