Another Seat Upholstery Question

Gang I hope you can help. I have a 1970 GMC 1/2 ton and need a seat cover. My original is dark green and does NOT have the scroll pattern. Does this cover exist? The metalic Green scroll pattern that is offered is too light of a green. Any one know of a source? or anyone have a color photo of a new green seat that I can see?

Thanks

Not sure I understand your problem. Nearly all suppliers have a dark green scroll that matches the "Dark olive green"--paint code #506, I believe. Check out the LMC catalog. Then check the prices at :

Thanks for the reply but my original seat is different. It does not have the scroll pattern that is for sale. It is actually very plain with ribbing in the seat bottom and back but no scrolls.

My 72 GMC 1500 Custom had the same color and dielectrically embossed hounds tooth pattern upholstery you're talking about. I haven't seen it listed for sale by any of the vendors. I opted to get the Cheyenne Super hounds tooth cloth seat cover to replace it in green/black.

I don't think any of the vendors sell original style "GMC" upholstery. If you want to go back to original, you may have to have a cover made. I had a quote from a local shop for around $300 to have one made. However, I opted for a '72 houndstooth cover.

upholstery

Doug,,,,,,,,,,,,contact Sharp Brothers Upholstery in Elyria, Ohio. They use a supplier in Michigan that has the right pattern which are available for all older pickups with bench seats with the exception of 1967 and 1968. For some reason, no one supplys a bench seat cover for those 2 years (the year I have!! They custom made one for my 68).

What a magnificent '68. Holy crap, you don't see 'em like that often. I saw the pics you posted yesterday on another thread. Betcha don't take the kids or grandchildren out for ice-cream in that truck!
