1994 4L60E from a Chevy C1500?

I have a chance to buy a 2wd 4l60E from a 1994 Chevy C1500. If I buy this, will it work with a 5.3? I haven't yet sourced the motor, so I don't know what year it will be.

I think you can make it work with a crankshaft adapter.

Ideally, I'd like to use this on the 350 I have now, and be able to use it again when I get a 5.3

I understand I won't be able to use the top bolt if I put this on an LS motor, but I've read that it shouldn't be much of a problem. Do you guys see any downside to using the crank adapter?

There are some electrical differences between the early models and the later model transmissions.
I have no idea if using non PWM trans with a PCM that wants a PWM torque converter clutch will be a problem

Non PWM 4L60E's do not play well with LSx PCM's. Also the 3-2 downshift solenoid & the 3-2 hydraulics are different in 93/94/95 valve bodies.

You can swap in a 1996 & up Valve Body & disable the PWM function with a Trans Go TCC Regulator Valve......Comes in the SK & HD2 shift kits. Sonnax also has one in their shift kit but pretty expensive.
Like Dave alluded to.....A Paper TCC clutch lining will not last long with the PWM apply functioning.
You can also tune the PWM out with tuning software.

It's probably in your best interest to find good 300mm 4L60E!

Bummer! I was really hoping to be able to put an overdrive trans in now and have it work with an LSx motor too when that time comes. I'm glad I asked, and I'm really grateful for the help!

It would probably better to just sell the motor and trans together that you pull out, and use the cash for the new 300mm 4l60e (or get a 4l80e ) when you do the swap.

Paired motor+trans usually sells better on craigslist/online because people know the components already work. Buying a trans alone used is the like the most nerve racking thing haha.
