Rectangular Sheet Metal Weld Nuts

I lost one of the weld nuts on my front bed panel, and I noticed the same ones are used throughout the truck. I think I'm missing one on the core support as well.

Does anyone have a source to purchase these or will a home brew effort be necessary?

I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to the body of my project '76, so I'd like to make it as OE as possible. I have a spot welder to weld them back on with if I can find some.

TIA.

Re: Rectangular Sheet Metal Weld Nuts

Im aware of mcmaster. I guess I was looking for the factory pieces- if anyone repopped them.

They are just a simple stamped block of steel with a threaded hole. no floating nut or anything special.

Re: Rectangular Sheet Metal Weld Nuts

If you have the correct tools, could be pretty easy to buy a 1/2" x 1/8-3/16" x "X" piece of steel, drill the correct diameter holes, then tap in threads then cut your squares and weld them in place????

Thanks Mike

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Squares a little larger than required, but you get the idea. Best of luck!!!

Try clipsandfasteners.com I know I have seen these somewhere.

We have **** tons of these, where I work (auto factory), but all of our stuff is metric.

Re: Rectangular Sheet Metal Weld Nuts

maybe your best bet would be a donor panel and cut them off. Or do like DADS said and make your own.

Re: Rectangular Sheet Metal Weld Nuts

Thanks guys.

I think I'll end up making my own. I know of two that I'm missing. One on the core support and one on the front bed panel.
