CLR for stainless steel?

One of my headlight retaining rings has a lot of rust or what might best be called "rust stains".....Evaporust had no effect. What do you guys think about trying CLR on that?

I have some metal polish I could try too....it's called "Wenol" I think.

Thoughts? Experience?

Wenol is good stuff. I'd give that a shot first.
