engine removal and storage?

Hello,
I'm about to pull out my inline 6/3 speed manual transmission and attempt to put in a 350/700r4. I don't need the outgoing engine/trany except for providing it to get my core charge back.

I plan to rent an engine hoist and pull the engine/trany out, but what do I do with it once it's out? Again, I don't plan to work on the engine when it's out - just have to put it somewhere.

I've heard that a wooden box can be built with 2x6's to serve an a basic stand and that caster wheels can be added to make it mobile - is this a good idea?

Could you just toss them in the back of your truck? That way once you are up and running again, just drive it to where you need to take the cores and drop them off. You can drain the oils out and block them up with an old tire or blocks of wood, and strap it all down so it won't move.

A tire in the bed will hold it!
