68 C10 door won't tighten up

Two of the bolts at the top hinge of my 68 will not tighten up the bolts look fine what's on the inside of the door that they screw in to can it be repaired sure someone's been there done that

Their is a plate with three square nuts attached to it . Maybe the nut is stripped or they have broken loose inside the door.

2 bolts on mine did that also.
Just put a new bolt in there with a nut on the side
You can reach in after door panel is removed.
I think I used a 3/8-16 bolt and nut

The factory bolts thread into square nuts on the inside of the door panel. The square nuts are spot welded onto the door panel.

Your choices are as follows:

If the nuts are still there, but stripped out, you could increase the size of the threaded captive nut by drilling and tapping it to say 7/16 UNC then use an allen head screw to attach the hinge...the hole thru the hinge would also need to be enlarged...

Be careful when drilling out the square nuts...they are old and fragile...use lots of lube when drilling and tapping.

If the nuts are simply gone, as in fallen off, you can place a longer bolt thru the hinge and hole in the door and use a flanged nut on the inside...this will be a PITA to adjust the door etc...but saves massive repairs to the door hinge area...just drill out the holes that are stripped or missing to 3/8" and use grade 8 fasteners,,,

To repair it correctly means removing the door and performing some extensive surgery on the door hinge area...

Use the search capability on the forum and search for door hinge panel repairs....

and finally...do a good check of the area where the hinges mount on both the door and the cab...these areas are prone to cracking and panel separation issues....any damaged areas should be repaired and re-enforced....these areas are particularly prone to rust and cracking...
