Did you notice how it was rusted out above the coil springs, so I replaced the rear frame and tubbed it.

Now it has disk brakes, 5 lug all around, new frame, shaved firewall, and just am finishing up 4" body drop on the cab. Next is rockers, cab corners, dog legs (A pillars), footwells, and custom rust repair on the cowl area inside the cab. Already have 4 1/2" suspension drop in front and custom 7" drop in back. Justhave to finish cab, remove it, spray the frame, and then fix panel by panel and put it back together. Sounds like a little but my goal is by Nov. 2004 it is one straight piece again, that will be possible if I bust my balls every free time I have. Also the bed floor was rusted out so a piece of about 14 ga aluminum sheet is going in. No biggy, all that will ever be in the bed is a fuel cell and a battery.

Mine was a Mississippi farm truck. Hauled cattle and other farmie stuff. I still am cleaning all the tobacco juice from the inside back of the cab and and other choice spots of the interrior.

Mine was used by my dad and then I got it for graduating h.s and I beat the crap outta it till it died... Last time it ran under it's own power was feb 2 2000 when I brought my son home form the hospital in it from being born...... Hope fully it will be drivable this year...

I bought mine from an old man, who bought it from an even older man in Arkansas. Had white striped tires on it, and these stupid little chrome wannabe mudflaps at the corners of the fenders. Ditched all that crap and it looked pretty good.

Then out came the stock, high mileage, oil burning 350, a new mild 350 took its place, later the tranny went out, new one went in, and now rearend #2 is going out......i love and hate my truck

My 70cst was owned by a guy who operated a salvage yard. It is being recycled and transformed into the truck it once was except only better.

The 67 was used on a nursery/orchard from day one, then around 82' it was parked until me and my dad snagged it, the 71 was drivin daily around town then i got it off the original owner when he bought a new chevy

My grandpa bought it used from a local dealer back around 1973 or 74. I think it had been rolled or some sort of accident, (found a narly looking weld under bondo on top rear drivers side corner of the cab). My dad bought it around 1976. Just hauled the family around, wood for heat in the winter, trash to the dump. We fit two adults and three little kids in there, what seat belts? He bought a car a couple years later and the truck mostly sat and rotted except when it was trash or wood hauling time. Until about 1983 when I got my license and beat the living snot out of it. I replaced the engine with a 283 rebuilt at the HS. Which I blew a few months later ( a bolt fell into a cylinder and jammed between the piston and head, no idea how it got there). So I built another 283, then kind of revved the rod bearings out of it and rebuilt it again. Changed out the three on the tree to a four on the floor with a heavy clutch, then a TH350 auto, now I'm just fixing the rust and the screw ups from past years when I was learning the hard way. One fender, a little straightening on the cab and some putty for the dings, then a lot of sanding and paint.

Then it will be a hot rod.

Mine was a fire truck for the City of Oceanside. The 2nd owner is retired from the City of Oceanside vehicle maintenance yard. I'm the 3rd owner. This is how it looked when I got it.

Mine was a Shell Gas Truck from the big town Thorold Ontario!

And the roof donor truck was from the junk yard!

The USAF were the first owners. They treated it to some excellent paint work! The final coat was yellow with red fenders, I assume for high visibilty on airfields. It then had a series of owners and I bought it off a hells angel type. Ten years later there is not much left of the original truck, but it does go a bit quicker.

I bought my truck in 97 from the original owner in Georgia. Her husband bought the truck new in 1970 (shortbed fleetside) with factory AC, power brakes, power steering, 350 cid, th 350. He died in I think 73. The truck stayed totaly original just being driven to the mailbox and down to the store. The truck had original everything down to the orginal windsheild with 2 nicks in it and a 70 something inspection sticker on it. With only 62,000 miles and two pinholes of rust in a rocker panel I picked the truck up for 2000. I promised I would keep the truck clean a just do a little restoring on it. I tried but couldnt keep it orginal, one thing led to the next and now the truck is fully shaved, bagged, and has a 3" bodydrop. Sorry to all you orginal gurus out there, I've been told "I've destroyed a piece of history." Some people find this story intresting.

I think my rig was originally some municipal vehicle. (C/10 shortbed stepside, 292/465/3.73) The hole in the roof [still not leaking after xxx years w/ dealer grommet] is a give-away that there was something up there. Spotlight? Radio antenna? Gumball light? Who knows. The radio delete plate, the 7.00 x 17.5 wheels, crossbed toolbox, the all-standard package, and 516 Orange, all point to a fleet vehicle. The guy I bought it from, said he bought it from this Navy chaplain from MCB Camp Pendleton. He, the PO, had seen an ad for the truck in the base paper while TAD/TDY there from the Army. [I wonder if the padre was shipping out to the Nam and had to dump it, ASAP ?! It still had Col./O-6 stickers on the front bumper.] He also inlcuded the original set of Service and Overhaul manuals and a 3' x 4' OD tarpaulin he said was a torpedo hatch cover, which the good padre used to cover the 292 engine with to keep it warm on those damp Calif nights.
It was still a creamcicle when I first saw it in June of '73.
Five months later I found my own feet on Mickey Mouse's footprints at receiving barracks, MCRD, and by god, I was gonna stick thru it and keep that truck.
I still got it.

Every 25 years I like to rebuild that 292, whether it needs it or not.
