Check out this cable crimping idea! Plus: clear heat shrink

Clear heat shrink with adhesive......check it out. You could see any corrosion underneath and the adhesive is supposed to really seal out the oxygen. https://www.delcity.net/store/Clear-.../p_326.h_76221 |

Re: Check out this cable crimping idea! Plus: clear heat shrink
if it seals out corrosion.... then what do you see? just kiddin...
I always mix up some JB weld and slather it all over the connection befor sliding the heat shrink over the connection. then apply just enough heat to shrink down the sleave. it also protects the connection from corrosion and adds enourmous strength. I've had a starter motor hangin from a connection like that. it works, seals out moisture and it becomes the strength that holds the connection together rather than the friction between the copper cable and the crimp. Also I use uninsulated crimp connections that are nickle plated steel rather than that aluminium stuff. that also limits corrosion and increases strength. 5 cents a connection vs. 1 cent. but its priceless when it does not fail |
