Yes... it's too much w/a 15" diameter wheel. If you have a flat, the u-bolt ends/nuts & the shock plate are below the 'scrub line' & they will drag the pavement.

While blow-outs aren't common, they do occur & these old trucks can be a handful to control.... now add to that mix one corner of the truck dragging the ground & you get a dangerous combination.

Your safest bet would be to only use that set-up w/larger diameter wheels so that no part of the suspension touches the ground in the event of a flat. As far as the shock angle, it doesn't change w/lowering blocks.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

You'd definitely be better off with some drop springs. Some people say the cheaper ones can't handle the weight, but can 35 year old ones handle it as well? Depending on how low you go, you may have to mess with the spring angle. Kits are out there, but from what I've seen, it's not too hard to make your own out of some square tubing.

My truck picture Dubie posted above, those are 17 inch wheels too, and the u-bolts still hang down too low.

Imagine what they would be like with 15 inch wheels.

I think that is way too low. In case of a blow out. But right now those are so low that I'd be woried about large "bumps" that the tire could possibly miss or even the cement parking things (I can't think of what they're called) if you backed over something and happen to miss it with the tire. If you wanna go real low, get some springs.

Let me tell you what a dumb kid I was. In the minitruckin' 80's, I stacked a 4" block onto another 2" block for a 6" drop. I had to have custom u-bolts made, and they hung down so low, I had to hacksaw several inches off. At cruise spots, I had to be lifted off of every speed bump, but hey--I looked good.
