Lower control arm: what is this and can I fix it?

1970 C-10 2WD

Spent last weekend cleaning up the control arms for my disc conversion install. My wire wheel accidentally damaged this soft piece on the rear side of the lower control arm:



First question: What is this? I'm guessing the rubber grommet (rear #27 in the diagram).



Second question: Any way to fix/repair it? Looking for a mid-term solution that doesn't involve taking the control arm off. Doesn't have to be pretty, I just don't have it in me to tear everything apart again. Thanks!

looks to be fine.

only way to fix/repair it, is to replace it. all it is, is your lower control arm bushing

Thanks. My initial impression was to leave it alone. There doesn't appear to be any grease leaking out or anything, although the lower inside control arm doesn't have a grease zerk.

Its a dust shield/grease holder inner.

These rigs don't necessarily have control arm "bushings". The have large shafts that have large "caps" that screw onto the end of the shaft and into the control arm at the same time.
