Re: 1969 C19 CST with Camper Restorations - Value
Beautiful truck and nicely optioned with buckets console and A/C. That truck is what everyone seems to want these days, original and unmolested. I wholeheartily agree with the comments by the members about keeping the truck as is and with that being said there are some enhancements you can do, like adding front disc brakes and front sway bar, that would enhance the safety and driveability of your truck without distracting from its originality. I guess my biggest curiosity is how did you find the truck, Craigslist, EBay, Friend of a Friend, Neighbor down the street or ????

X2, I'd love to have a preserved original like that. If you keep it out of the weather, it will stay like that indefinitely.
Looking forward to some more pics.

Re: 1969 C19 CST with Camper Restorations - Value
That is a good looking truck....looks very original which carries a lot of value these days.
Yes...I would 'detail' that truck up further. Clean up and degrease under the hood, detail/paint the engine, the accessory brackets, etc.....mostly elbow grease, unless it is in need of repairs?. Then I would go through it mechanically...brakes, trans service, oil change, etc. By all appearances it does not appear to need anything major...from a financial standpoint. So, I would then just drive it, enjoy it....and smile. Its very hard to find 'original' or unmolested trucks....and it is interesting how incredibly attractive and apparent they are when one pops up....such as this one appears to be. Coley

Re: 1969 C19 CST with Camper Restoration? -- Additional Pics of Bad Areas
Thank you all for the replies, suggestions and opinions. This weekend I was able to take some close up pics of the bad areas. After looking closer, it appears one of the panels may have been painted. There is a little paint on the passenger side gas tank. I didn't see any other areas that looked this way.
Here are some close up pics of the rust areas. Please let me know if this changes your opinion on whether to repaint it or repair the rust areas and drive it. And, can a body shop just paint these repair places - blend in - and it look good? I don't mind spending the money to have it repainted, but I learned from many of you guys that "original" is sometimes better than new paint. Thanks again! |

Re: 1969 C19 CST with Camper Restorations - Value
So I should fix the rust areas and repaint below the trim? Should I repaint it white below the trim and then re
paint the top of the cab white as well? And paint the wheels white too? |

Re: 1969 C19 CST with Camper Restorations - Value
Hello and welcome! My '69 is also originally turquoise, though the current paint job is not the original style. This thread is really helpful to determine paint codes and what was an option each year. It helped me discover that my current paint job was not what the truck came with. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=630462 Depending what is on your SPID, the original paint might be top and bottom white as you are describing.
