I keep eyeing the powered rear hatch mechanism on my 2012 Acadia and have wondered if I could make something like that work on my hood.
Thoughts??

You would have to figure out how to actuate the latch and how to actuate the safety catch.

The Acadia lift assembly is pretty big. The lift in the GMC Terrain is all in the gas strut. Might look into that instead.

Struts won't do what he wants to do an that is hit a switch or remote and have the hood open on it's own.

To do that he has to have a power hood release plus a power hood safety catch and you sure don't want to drive one of these trucks on the highway without a safety catch that works.

You're right about that! It happened to me one time in a 49 I had. The hood flew open and scared the bejesus out of me!!

The powered hood safety latch that mr48chev mentioned is on my search list of solutions to un-powering electric door poppers when truck is in motion or in gear. Sort of a like a neutral safety switch on a motorcycle. Anyone think of a known device out there that would adapt to a T5 tranny or otherwise do the job?

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
