Home with one of the Blazers!!!

Wow 4:00am till 1:00pm round trip, 12 MPG average in the Duramax bucking the wind an loaded coming home. This is the running one, can't decide what to do yet, drive it, fix it or sell it. The under side is pretty rust free, just needs the body rust fixed. I'm getting the other one in a couple weeks THANKS to Sakohntr (Bruce) who is going to haul it down from MINN. for me. Board member Leinie was a GREAT guy to deal with, It was nice to meet you and your wife Dave!!! And also THANKS for meeting me in Iowa!!! Also a BIG THANKS to Class of 69 (Mitch) for checking these looking these over for me too!!!! It was a GREAT trip up to Des Moines and back!!!! Thanks to all who has been a part of this!! Randy

Nice find you got there for sure.

O/T though Im looking at a deal on a 2002 3/4HD with the 6.0 and automatic tranny plus everthing you can put on one that you can think of I was wondering since you own one if you could tell me any problems youve had or know of with these year models.
The truck Im looking at only has 19000 miles on it and is showroom condition and kept.

I would really appreciate any info as Im about to dump 25000 on a truck that i dont know the dependability of.

Steve

Gee_Emm, thats for sure, its real good shape for around here.
Steve, I just got my 2001 HD Duramax 2 weeks ago and its got alot of miles on it but so far I like it. Sorry not much help.
Trevor, I'll think about it I'm not sure if I'm selling it yet, I got a guy looking at my 72 swb 4x4 and if he buys it I probably won't sell this Blazer, plus the wife likes the blazer.

Bob, thats what size is on it, I got 33's on all my others, I'm not sure which way I like best.
Thanks Randy

Just got back home from meeting Randy. It was a great road trip.
The Blazer ran great and got 10 mpg with about 1000 lbs of stuff in the back. Randy, It was great to meet you and deal with you as well.
I also got to visit my favorite uncle for a few hours. His health is not to good and I won't get to many more chances to see him. His spirits were quite high when we left.
Take care of that Blazer- Joann said in 10 years I can drive what I want, but until the kids get older I gotta have something 90's or newer.
So in 2015 I might be trying to hunt it down again!

They are 31.5- 10.5 - 15's with a 2" lift

Did the Duramax pass the test ? I'm guessing it did.

Hey Dave, glad you had a good trip!! Yes very happy with the Duramax as far as pulling, I thought it would get a bit better MPG, but its way better than my 1/2 ton with 5.3 I used to have. The wife loves the blazer so its probably going to get fixed up if my other truck sells. I have to get all that unloaded this week, there is a bunch of stuff in the back of it. I took it out for a drive tonight, I got to get a fan on it real soon, to warm down here.
THANKS Blue Beard, it was well worth the trip!!!!

Randy- One thing I forgot to mention, If you floor it- get your foot high up on the pedal and really mash it hard. It seems to open the secondaries all the way. The cable might need some tweeking.

Did you like the tranny shifts? I think the local Kennedy shop put a nice kit in it.

Randy, How are you figuring your gas mileage ? Have you refigured your speedometer since you changed your tires? With the bigger tires you will loose about 1 tenth of a mile per mile, so you will show your getting worse gas mileage than you really are. Glad you like the truck., and nice Blazer too!!
